What is a close coupled toilet?

The most popular type of toilet you would have come across would be a close coupled toilets as they are easy to install and available in a wide range of styles including modern and traditional. The cistern sits on the back of the pan and flushes directly through the connecting point i.e close and coupled as opposed to traditional cisterns that are hung from a wall right above the pan and use gravity to create a strong flush.
