FAQs

We get asked a lot of questions every day, hopefully you will find some answers here.

General:

Q: Is there a warranty on the products you sell?

A: Yes. Each manufacturer offers varying warranties, depending on the product purchased. If you can’t find the information on our product page, you can contact us or check the manufacturer’s website for more information.

Q: I am looking for product dimensions & user guides

A: Our products have a Specifications and Downloads tab on each page which will show you a data sheet. If dimensions are unavailable on a product, please contact us via Live Chat or alternatively email:  info@bathroomsandshowersdirect.co.uk

Q: I’m trying to find spare parts but can’t see them online. Can you help?

A: Of course! We may not be able to get hold of every spare part available, but we will do our best. Contact us with your requirements and we will do what we can to help.

Q: Do you have a showroom

Q: We don’t, however our sister company Just Add Water can be found in Buckhurst Hill IG9 6DR and Barnet EN4 9NR. www.justaddwater.co.uk/

Q: Do you offer an installation service?

A: Unfortunately, we do not offer an installation service.

Q: Will I be able to fit the products myself?

A: Some products such as toilet seats or bathroom accessories are easy to fit yourself, however, we would always recommend booking a professional to install purchased goods if you are not confident or the product requires plumbing or electrical work.

Q: Can you order products that aren’t on your website?

A: Absolutely! We are part of a larger plumbing and building supplies company and have access to hundreds of brands and thousands of products that aren’t online. Simply complete a quote request or email info@bathroomsandshowersdirect.co.uk with your requirements and we will do our best to help.

Q: Are your products authentic, some seem really cheap?

A: We only purchase products from the manufacturer or an approved distribution agent. All brands listed are from source. If we can get a discount by buying in bulk, we try where possible to pass that on to our customers.

Q: Do you offer Blue Light Discounts?

A: Regrettably, we are unable to offer this.

Q: I am a small business; do you offer trade accounts?

A: Unfortunately, we are unable to offer trade accounts through BASD. If you are a looking to purchase large volumes on a regular basis we can pass your details to our sister company Fayers who may be able to open a trade account for you. Drop us an email.

Product Help:

Q: Do your baths and showers come with feet or legs?

A: Not all of them. Each page should advise whether these are included and we try to link the correct product if required. Make sure you add both to your basket if needed.

Q: What type of waste do I need?

A: Wastes are available as slotted and unslotted. Slotted is for a basin or bath with an overflow hole, unslotted where the is no overflow.

Q: Not sure what size waste I need. Please advise

A: In general a basin waste is 1.25" (32mm), bath and kitchen sinks wastes are 1.5" (38mm). You will need the appropriate sized trap to go with it.

Q: Can I use a basin tap on a bath?

A: No. A basin tap requires a 1/2" BSP male inlet, a bath needs a 3/4" inlet.

Toilet Seats:

Q: Help! I don’t know what seat I need to buy!

A: Complete the contact us form or email us, sending a side view image of your toilet along with the brand, measurement between the fitting holes in the pan, the overall width and length of your current seat. We will be able to identify the majority of designs. If the seat is a retailer own brand, you will need to go to them for assistance.

Q: How do I measure for a new toilet seat?

A: The seat dimensions are taken from the toilet pan rather than the current seat. Measure between the holes in the pan for the hinge width, the overall width of the pan and the distance from the holes to the front edge of the pan.

Q: I want to buy a Roca The Gap toilet seat, but it looks different to the one I have.

A: Roca updated the hinge design in 2023; the seat will fit as long as you remove all the old fittings first.

Q: The screws on my Roca The Gap toilet seat aren’t long enough to go through the toilet pan, what do I do?

A: Check the pan with us. It may be that you have a Debba toilet. The back near the hinges is a different design, but they are very similar seats.

Q: My toilet seat has developed yellowish staining; how can I remove it?

A: The staining is caused by chemicals used to clean the toilet. If you use a chemical cleaner on the ceramic, make sure the lid & seat are lifted whilst the cleaner does its job.

Q: What is the best way to clean my toilet seat? I have noticed some instructions have crossed out cleaners pictured.

A: Some cleaning fluids will start corroding the metal fixings. If this happens, it is not covered under the warranty. Most manufacturers recommend warm, mild soapy water. You can refer to the manufacturer’s instructions or website for more information.

Q: Do all your toilet seats come with the fixings supplied?

A: Yes, everything you need is in the box. *Please note that Duravit toilets will usually require a new set of plugs when you replace the seat. These are available to purchase on the relevant pages.
