Continuity of Service

We are currently still taking orders online and ensuring we follow the guidelines from Public Health England and the government.

Please be assured that protecting all of those that come into contact with our business is absolutely paramount, this includes our team, customers, suppliers and supporting service providers.

Our office team is working from home, however, you can continue to make contact with them through the usual channels.

Our warehouse team is working on a reduced staffing level to help ensure the required social distance minimum of 2 meters. We have also implemented increased safety measures such as providing hand sanitizer, masks for staff to wear, increased levels and frequency of cleaning and safe working procedures.

Our delivery couriers are following a ‘Contact Free Delivery Service to help ensure the safety of our customers and their delivery personnel, see more below.

At the moment we have good stock levels of the majority of our products and our supply chain is still strong, however, there may be occasions where there is a delay and the dispatch time will be longer than shown on your order confirmation. Should this be the case we will contact you to let you know what options are available to you. Please accept our sincerest apologies in advance should this happen, it is a very difficult and unprecedented period for us all.

Our Service Update

We've improved our contact free delivery process to include photo capture for proof of delivery. Your customers will not be asked to sign our handheld units and our drivers will take a photo of the parcel at the point of delivery.

We also recognise that some people may be self-isolating and unwilling or unable to open their door to receive parcels, so there's a range of delivery options for everyone including setting their delivery preferences on the DPD app or leaving a note on the front door telling us where to leave the parcel.

Delivery network

We implemented a new Swap It process which eliminates contact and ensures social distancing.

With the new process, our drivers will only touch the Swap It packaging and your customers will only need to touch the items they are swapping and receiving.

From Tuesday 24 March we also suspended our DPD Pickup service to comply with the Government's advice to close non-essential shops.

This means your customers won't be able to drop off their parcels at a shop, divert their parcels to a shop in-flight or collect their parcels from their local shop.

How contactless delivery works

How contactless delivery works
  1. The driver places the parcel at the entrance of the customer's home and rings the doorbell or calls via mobile.
  2. The driver steps away, keeping a safe distance (2 metres where possible)
  3. You open the door and takes the parcel.

Reducing contact at the delivery point.

  • Change of procedure regarding on-screen signature capture.
  • Limiting contact between drivers and hub/warehouse staff

Ensuring continuity at Palletways hubs and protecting our staff

  • Those staff who are able to will now work from home to reduce the number of people at our sites
  • For operational functions where this is not possible, contingencies such as splitting shifts within departments are being implemented to ensure key roles can continue to be carried out
  • Rigid hygiene procedures have also been implemented throughout the network
  • This allows us to minimise disruption while also ensuring we focus on the health and safety of our employees

Currently, Covid19 has not impacted our service offering. Operations continue as normal domestically but with additional measures implemented to help continue this service, protect staff and customers and ensure that essential supply chains across the country remain operational. International services will be affected due to many countries closing their borders, but we will keep you updated with these developments

We are still delivering great service!
